Introduction

The Information Team is a collection of teams that deal with issues related to member assistance, community outreach and moderator technical assistance. Penny heads the Information Team and reports to the Hub.

Spam Control Team

The objective of the Spam Control team is keeping the members of the Freecycle Network free from being scammed for money and generally keeping the site safe for the members.

If a member or moderator spots a scam or spam type post they can email spamcontrol@freecycle.org and we will investigate the members' concerns, reporting back to them and taking any necessary actions.

Chris and Shaz head up the Spam Control Team and report to the Information Coordinator.

Member Support Team

The Member Support Team is a dedicated team of five to six volunteers who assist members with all aspects of their MyFreecycle accounts, including:

  • signing up
  • logging in
  • joining a group
  • posting
  • leaving a group
  • deleting their MyFreecycle account

Members initially contact MyFreecycleAdmin@freecycle.org, which sends an autoresponse email with basic information. Members who require additional assistance are directed to MyFreecyclesupport@freecycle.org, which is a staffed email address. The majority of individual responses are from basic templates, but some require specially directed responses.

Social media team

This is the team headed up by James who oversees the Facebook, Twitter and Google+ accounts that we have. Dan heads up our busy Facebook group and responds to messages on there. Messages can be left on our Google+ accounts and Twitter as well. Socialmedia@Freecycle.org

Wiki team

Alison adds new material to the Freecycle wiki and edits existing pages on request. wikilead@freecycle.org There is a moderator manual and a member Wiki; both are available to all members to look at. In addition, there are special team wikis which are restricted to members of that team.
