Reseller Guidelines

In local groups that allow resale, full disclosure of intent to resell must be disclosed up front. Resellers must announce their intent to resell an item in Wanted postings as well as in responses to Offers.

What is a reseller? Members who reply to offers or post wanteds for items they do not intend to use personally are termed resellers for purposes of this list, whether or not they make a profit from the transaction. If asked, resellers MUST disclose their intention to resell/redistribute any item. In addition, resellers are also required to state their intention to resell/redistribute when making wanted posts.

For groups that allow reselling. Alternative wording of required minimum guideline (reseller must note intent):

While claiming or asking for items in order to resell or redistribute them does not violate Freecycle(TM) guidelines, some members prefer to give their items directly to the people who will use them. For this reason, members are entitled to ask responders if they intend to resell the item in question before agreeing to the transaction.

If you are an EBay seller, thrift store owner, or a reseller of any kind, FULL DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INTENTION TO SELL ITEMS RECEIVED FROM FREECYCLE MEMBERS IS REQUIRED UP FRONT. You MUST disclose your intent to sell either in your original Wanted post or when responding so the gifter can make an informed decision with all the details and facts. Members have the right to inquire as to the intended use of any item they offer.

For groups that do not allow reselling. Some groups may choose to not allow reselling at all, even if disclosed up front. Suggested wording of local guideline (no resale permitted):

Resale of items is not permitted. Items gifted are intended solely for reuse, not resale."
