There is one main discussion group for Freecycle moderators, the Freecycle Leadership Community. This forum is open only to Freecycle moderators.
Freecycle Leadership Community
Freecycle Leadership Community. FLC is a forum where moderators from around the world discuss issues with their groups, offer advice and opinions, and share fun stories from their own groups. This is also where the latest news and updates about Freecycle.org are posted, including information and announcements about Freecycle 3.0.
Please note: there are also special subgroups of FLC for French and German mods.
Tech Issues discussion group
A subgroup of FLC is the Tech Issues discussion group. If you are having a tech issue, this is the first place to make it known or find out if others are having the same problem.
Whenever you post about a technical problem, always include your Group name and Unique TFN Group ID number which are found on your Info and Options Page.
Guidelines for Joining Moderator Discussion Groups
To ensure timely approval, please note the following:
- Mods working with GOA Support or NGA Support must wait until they are promoted to LM after New Moderator Orientation
- Email address must match moderator address on local Freecycle.org group
- Applications will be approved for personal email addresses only. These also must match the email used on the local Freecycle.org group. Any email address containing the term 'freecycle', 'moderator' or any abbreviation of these terms is considered to be 'generic', even if your name is also included. That being said, we understand that some people might be wary of using a personal address publicly for the group; therefore we can allow two email addresses per mod per group; one 'personal' and one 'generic.' It is fine to use a generic email for modding the group and a personal email address for discussion groups, provided that you inform GOA of the two email addresses you are using.
Approval
Approval will be within one week if the above criteria are met. Please contact your GOA if you have any difficulties joining FLC. http://wiki.freecycle.org/Moderator_Manual:How_to_Contact_Your_GOA
